The Family Business – Hickeys Fabrics & Home Focus
How to boost conversion for your business in a pandemic -There has been a huge upsurge in online shopping in Ireland due to Covid-19 and many businesses are reporting bumper online sales.
I talked to Sophie Pigott, e-commerce manager at Home Focus at Hickeys who reports that their business has been busier than ever since Covid-19 restrictions have been in place. Like other businesses, she says that their customers are spending more online than in-store. 4 Jan 2021
Home improvement drives demand for tradesmen – Ian Donnelly is the owner and managing director of Hickey’s Fabrics, and Home Focus at Hickey’s. Selling curtains is a big part of the business. He wasn’t pleased when Minister Harris said in May that it wasn’t the time to buy a pair of curtains, but he smiles about it now. “Listen I think the man did a great job, and inadvertently he probably did us a favour,” Mr Donnelly said. “It put curtains and cushions in people’s heads. I understood the sentiment even though, at the time, it wasn’t what I wanted to hear.” – 16 Oct 2020

McKinsey & Company does not have the best reputation – or rather it does have a reputation for their consultants being at the heart of way too many financial and global disasters to keep track of.

AKARA ROBOTICS – Violet – Such a marvellouse discovery – or invention. Is it not curious that we are not hearing more about it? After all would it not benefit every pub, restaurant, hotel, business, train station, airport etc to have one. Then perhaps we could all return to normal living. Curious….
Stephen Donnelly – BIO
Stephen Donnelly – attended MIT (Massachussetts Institute of Technology), which is heavily funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Jeffrey Epstein. Worked with Boris Johnson while employed by McKinsey & Co. – a company with a questionable international track record. Married to a scientist whose main interest is the field of Artificial Intelligence and data.
2020 – 27 June, Donnelly was appointed Minister for Health by Taoiseach Micheal Martin during Covid. His tenure to date has resulted in several gaffes, most notably when he compared the danger to children from returning to schools during the pandemic to that of jumping on trampolines. He has been criticised for not being on top of his brief, for floating ideas in the media such as a mooted third change in several weeks to Ireland’s vaccine rollout plan and during the height of lockdown, querying why his Department’s officials weren’t retweeting his tweets.
2020 – Donnelly was elected on the 15th count in the Wicklow constituency. After being announced as a minister in the 2020 cabinet, Donnelly reportedly stood by his 2017 comments, and noted an openness to the liberalisation of some drug laws, stating that if “you’re doing something that’s not harming anybody else, it’s hard to see a legitimate role for the State in prosecuting you for it”.
NOTE: As Minister for Health he is NOT making any great efforts to allow children or people with forms of epilepsy easy access to Cannabis Treatment.
2018 – March, he was appointed Fianna Fáil spokesperson on health.[
2017 – In February 2017, Donnelly announced that he was joining Fianna Fáil. He said that he believed Fianna Fáil to be “the best team that most closely align with my politics who I believe are taking these challenges very seriously”.
2016 – 5 Sept Donnelly left the party, stating “some partnerships simply don’t work”.
2015 – On 15 July 2015, Donnelly launched the Social Democrats, becoming co-leader along with former Labour Party TD Róisín Shortall and former Independent TD Catherine Murphy.
2008 – completed a master’s degree in Public Administration in International Development at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He returned to work for McKinsey and Company, in Dublin, before deciding to run for office in 2011.
Donnelly is a graduate of University College Dublin (UCD) with a degree in mechanical engineering. He also worked and studied in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). MIT is heavily funded by Bill Gates and Jeffrey Epstein.
