Clare TD tells Dáil that suspension of eight gardaí is a ‘witch trial’ – Referencing the famous Salem witch trials in colonial Massachusetts in the 1690s, when more than 200 people were accused of practising witchcraft and 20 were executed, Deputy Crowe told the Dáil: “You could almost call the Limerick Garda Division ‘Salem’ at the moment, because there’s a form of witch-trial being going on for the last two years there. Because all Gardai are superhuman, supergood and never ever do anything harmful or bad to ANYONE ever, ever. I wonder how Cathal Crowe would feel should he ever find himself in a less that happy situation with the Gardai? Being a TD does not offer immunity as he should know from history.
